DUE DATES FOR LODGEMENT OF TAX OBLIGATIONS

The general due-by date for the lodgement of self-prepared individual, partnership and trust income tax returns is 31 October each year.

If the lodgement due-by date falls on a weekend or public holiday, it is usually moved to the next business day.

If you need an extension of time to lodge a tax return, contact the Australian Tax Office prior to the due-by date with the particular circumstances as to why this is the case. This will help you avoid or reduce late lodgement penalties and, potentially, general interest charges.
